Hello all There has been a lot of discussion on this topic. Those who are new to forum Pl look into our past "e-conference on modelling" on SEFI web site.
What i am thinking, cannot we some demarcation of support condition to be used (for isolated footings) based on bearing capacity (BC)of the soil (as modulus of subgrade reaction is directly related to this).
i.e. if BC of the soil is in this range(say 100 to 250 Kn/m2) consider pinned support if BC of the soil is in this range consider fixed support
I would like to ask Mr Vipul how you decided to assume pinned support condition for your structures (except shear walls) as you said this during econf on this topic. What was the max. bearing capacity in for any of your structures, where you assumed pinned condition.
