Dear All,
We are pleased to announce an e-conference for the IS 800 draft revised code
to be held from October 6th to October 18th. The e-conference shall be
moderated by Prof Kalyanraman and Prof Satishkumar of IIT Madras who have
been very actively involved in the drafting of the code.
For the benefit of all SEFI memebrs, we have uploaded the draft code on the
website. It can be downloaded in document format form the Articles page
(Article # 25). We hope that this will give all of you some time to review
this code and be ready for discussions come October 6th.
We think it is very important for all of us to take the time out and
participate in the e-conference. Very often IS codes come out without having
been in wide circulation and we as the end users have had no participation
in the process nor any platform to air our conerns about some proposed
clauses of the code. The purpose of this e-conference is just that. Prof
Kalyanraman and Prof Satishkumar of IIT Madras will be able to review the
suggestion made in the e-conference and incorporate them if found to be
covincing. This will also be an opportunity to understand the rationale
behind the code revisions.
So please mark your calendar and be prepared to participate wholeheartedly.
Please also inform all your colleagues who are not SEFI members to register
now. The steel code changes affect ALL of us!!

Dear All,
As brought to my notice by some members, there is some problem with
downloading Section 9, Appendix E & Appendix F. We are trying to rectify the
situation, and will inform everybody, once the problem is rectified. In the
meantime, members are requested to download all the other 20 files, which do
not present any problem while downloading.
