Dear all,
The draft code of IS 1893 inocorporates many new things which are useful or somewhat a relief to the user in many areas.
1). The introduction of IMRF (in zone 3)is most welcome. It was much difficult to adhere both to srtict codal provisions and client's demands. But a detailed description of this frame is to be given in this code itself rather than pointing towards 13920.
2).The design parameters of non-structural components are given and is also a welcome step.
3).Regarding clause 7.12.2 .If sufficient shear walls are not present to take care of the lateral loads , one has to depend upon the flat slab and column arrangemet for the passage of lateral loads. So they have to be included in the frame analysis. In such situations what are the guidelines to be adopted?
4).Clause 7.14.1 .In the mentioning of ties to footings the level is not mentioned. Is it mandatory to provide ties at footing level only?.If this clarification is not given, even plinth beams will also be treated as tie beams.(In cases where footings are not so below gr.level)
Regards,
Biju.
