Dear Sefians,
If a New code has to be Drafted for High Rise Building
Please add to the list more points and if possible Please elaborate on which references should be sought for each of the topic
Senior sefians please enlighten me about the procedure by which IS codes are drafted& do we have a say in it?

Aspects to be considered for Design Code of High Rise Building:
1)Site Restrictions
a) Space Constraints of plot (Setback) etc &min Distance to be left from boundary for access of Fire Brigades
b) Geo technical Investigations.
c) Fix Structural Conformation.
2) Wind Analysis at site 2 adjust Configuration and geometry of building.
Wind CFD Analysis

3)Calculate FSI Regulations as per local authorities & decide no. of floors(Structural Optimization by Break even Analysis.

4)Do Preliminary sizing of Shear Walls & Columns

a) Columns Gravity loading
b) SW Lateral load for Dual Systems

5)Modal Analysis.
6)Time History Analysis.
7)Pushover Analysis.
8)Progressive Collapse Analysis.
9)Fire Resistance provisions and Checks.
10) Impact Analysis (Aero plane)
11) Construction Sequence Analysis.
(Especially in case of May1shuttering or precast concrete/steel structure)
12) Facade Designing / Engineering.
13) MEP.
14) Blast Loading.

Best Regards,
Sameer Dhuri

Sameer,

Nice to see you on SEFI.

a) Why don't you write your points down - additional ones- so that the code drafting committee can have a review of the same?

这些b) Econferences帮助起草有限公司mmittee to understand the concerns of practising engineers and gauge the level of complexity at which a code should be pegged (which would be acceptable/accessible to the persons for whom it is meant). In my opinion the econf. has generated a wealth of information.

c) Usually, after a code is drafted, it is sent for wide circulation and there is an opportunity for everyone to opine on the code. A lot of changes take place in the draft code thanks to this process. I think it would be a very good idea to have another such e-conference once a draft code is generated.

best regards,

Alpa Sheth
