Dear S.K, Please mention how many floors you are proposing to extend. Let us know the soil nature and if possible, the details of existing footing. Then we can think of reducing the load on the existing column/ footings by providing light weight blocks istead of brick masonry. Regarding maintaing the continuty of column, the new column bars can be welded to the existing bars with 6mm weld and the legth of the weld should be 250 mm (by exposing about 125 and welding on both faces of joint). If you require further clarification, please send the CAD file to me individualy or if you are in Mumbai, contact me 98 69 275 625. All the Best, D.N.Nagaraj
