Hi, Freinds,
I am currently working on staad. There is option of offset in modelling structure.
Is there any influence of this offset on load transfer mechanism?
We are doing one more thing. First we are modelling only frame structure without slab. And then we model the slab by beams of one meter width between beams and we are not giving masterslave. So, i just want to know that is this correct practice?

Hi Viral
It will be useful to model with an offset command wherever you feel the load
transfer is happening in such a way, that the load transferring member and
the load accepting member are not concentric,e.g. if your beams are let's
say 300 x 700 mm deep and the columns 600 x 600mm and the beam is flush with
the columns on one side. This way it helps you in modelling in a realistic
manner, inducing automatically whatever additional moments maybe generated
due to eccentric loading.
Secondly, If you are not using the master slave command, it will be better
if you model the slab to ensure a rigid diaphragm action which is important
to ensure that all parallel frames move parallel to each other under
horizontal loads.
