IN GOD WE TRUST PARDON,PROTECT & HELP US LORD GOD, GIVE US THE WISDOM TO UNDERSTAND YOUR WAY OF CREATION WHICH WE CALL SCIENCE.
Dear Prof.Sreenivas Sarma Paraitham > Conference Secretary, International Conference on Natural Hazards & Disaster Management (IC-NHDM),CED,CBIT Hyderabad, INDIA.
and
Others Worldwide.
To night, flash back to 12th Nov. 1970, let's observe one minute silence in memory of more than 5,00,000 ( five - five zeroes ) people. This is one of the history's greatest natural disasters.
热带风暴海沿海行Patuakha激增li district was around 35' ( thirty five feet ) and over Bhola island it simply swept across with a height of about 50' ( fifty feet ), according to narration of the fateful event by Mr.Abdul Sattar of Patuakhali, Security - in -Charge, of our apartment complex interviewed this evening who vividly remembers this.
This mega cyclone, category 5 - US standard, originated far off the coast of the eastern Java,Indonesia, over the Pacific Ocean and drifted slowly westwards to the Indian Ocean. All of a sudden away from the shore of Andaman - Nicobar islands changed its course to the Bay of Bengal and started heading straight towards southern coastline of the then East Pakistan now Bangladesh.
US National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration ( NO AA ) did notify the Government of Pakistan about its super destructive power but surprisingly no warning signal was flashed. Next morning the Australian Broadcasting Company ( ABC ), Australia, and the Far Eastern 广播公司(远东),马尼拉,菲律宾s,` were almost the first to report followed by worldwide TV & Radio Stations. Radio Pakistan was perhaps the last in next night news bulletin to announce.
With regards and best wishes.
Sincerely yours,
Engr.Sikandar H. Siddiqi Project & Seismic Design Management Engineer/ Earthquake Public Awareness Engineer/Co-ordinator, Earthquake & Tsunami Safety Management Initiative(ETASMI)/Co- ordinator, Earthquake & Tsunami Warning Monitoring & ETASMI Data Center Dhaka - Bangladesh/Asia International E-mail
