Hello,
I am confuse while applying for PhD from foreign universities,
first of all, most of their current students seem to have their masters from same institute.

其次,我是开放的to many fields in Phd, have more than 5 proposals, not a specific so if my research interest matches with prof, i have sent them mails but response is negligible, Can any one help with the format of mail?

Third, about the exam, GRE, TOEFAL, IELTS etc., i have been done
prearation to give IELTS and also preparing for GRE, and as we know these exams costs alot, should i first get confirmation with the prof then only give these exams, preferably the required one by university norms?

Can anybody, suggests professors and university, open projects in structural engineering in US, Europe, Australia

Any good website for this..

ps- I have been applying in IITs but they have way low number of seats hardly 1-2 in structural engineering and they have a trend to select the students in phd, those have done their masters from same college, which is now a days a practical system in all IIts

Thank You

I would differ you on the observation that most universities take their own masters student for phd. it may happen occasionally but is definitely not the norm. For Indian or foreign Univs, you have to clear the respective tests for them to call you.

For Indian universities, it helps if you are from a reputed insitution. In any case a good GATE score should improve your chances greatly. For foreign university, you should either have a proven academic record ( good CGPA etc), a clear and effective proposal, and a bit of luck. Having a couple of paper published will be a great boost.

If you are very unclear, go as a project associate in an IIT and work for a semester. You would get to know of the process in the place and learn how to get into these institutions.
