I have done response spectrum analysis and time history analysis using spectrum compatible time history of an rc building connected to another steel 2d frame via infinitely rigid links. The base shear and displacements for rsa was normal and reduced, but in linea r time history analysis the base shear and displacement increases suddenly after 4-5 secs to very large value. If the stiffness of the rigid link is reduced, this issue is not seen. What could be the reason?
