Which is better ? A private sector job or Government Job. Many People say that Private sector is Better because you got to know and learn things whereas in Govt. you don't. Sometimes i mesh up, unable to decide. Is it really true that in Govt. sector i will get stagnant and there would not be any academic Growth of mine. Please Comment and Guide me.

Dear Eng JunVijay, Private /Government Sector Comparison
- It depends upon each individual.
- Government job in India allows security of employment but, it does not provide any opportunity to develop in profession & reputation is not expected.
- It of course, allows to make money depending on position & habit of individual.
- In many cases, should one disregard money making style, person shall be disregarded.
- I my self worked with government for 6 years in beginning of my career but, later left for private sector employment of course overseas.
- In case, one intends to achieve headway in profession, should opt for private sector.
- To an extent consultancy is related, I do not agree that it can be started immediately after studies.
- It shall be waste of time & lack of knowledge since, learning in field is on top even to work better in consultancy.

There are plus and minus points everywhere
I had quoted from urdu poetry earlier also that - - - No one gets complete world in one's life somewhere earth is not available, and somewhere sky
From designer's perspective A]Govt job -- - provides security , stability - - but transferable unless it is municipal /local body like DDA No data bank , work with study on own and provide designs Guidance depends upon Boss Now a days in-house design culture is lost and it is proof checking
Five days week , one gets time to study and learn, salaries are good now Good opportunities for attending seminars, workshops
Transfers to field /maintenance cannot be ruled out
But an individual with aptitude can always make best out of it
B] Pvt consultancy job - --Less stability - -depend upon market trends of infrastructure developments Employees are more worried about company's jobs-in hand scenario
Good consultancy have full back up of data bank of previous projects which always help a beginner , Pressure of work too much but good for development
Guidance from seniors is always there in pvt unless senior is narrow minded
All three types of jobs in design - - In -hose designing , Proof checking works, In house works proof checked by other consultant (it gives best opportunity to learn technically)
Five days week may or may not be there , salaries may depend on organisation (if it is pure consultancy/Arch office -- not good but if it is consutancy design wing of a developer/contractor, it would be satisfactory)
Mostly non-transferable and job remains same
But an individual with aptitude can always make best out of it and later start own independent design firm. All present day consultants were employees in big pvt firms and aftter attaing requisite experience ,they started on their own
C] Main points Main thing which pinches in govt transferable jobs is that there are no facilities 转移(除非IAS / IPS)和natue工作changed on transfer. A design interested engineer is suddenly posted to site and hence one does not gain professionalism. (Site visit as designers of project are always useful ,but site posting mean hands off from design)
Working in reputed consultancy organisation is always best barring market job scenario.
best wishes & regds

Neither private jobs nor MNC's jobs provide job security or services better than govt jobs here are some websites that provide government jobs: http://www.employmentnews.gov.in/ https://www.sbi.co.in/ http://www.sarkari-naukri.in/ http://www.ibps.in/ http://www.rrcchennai.org.in/

Dear Sir,
在我的日子里,the govt. Job was considered the best, because one need not do heavy work, as it was not competitive, no one can easily fire you , meaning you need not worry till retirement and finally you will get retirement benefits till your death and your spouse will also enjoy your retirement benefits(although reduced) till her/ his death. Of course, some liked the opportunity(!) of earning bribes or doing moon- lighting ( as the work load was light many did part time jobs in the evenings). The problem with bribery is that one may have to share it with the politicians and if caught may end up in jail( note in India, if a politician is caught, he may not go to jail and even if he does, he gets fame!!)
But, due to the huge money involved in paying the retirees as well as the fact that the living age has considerably increased, the governments in India are not providing pension at all in many cases. Instead they are asking you to put money in your own retirement account which they will will match till you retire. Note that this practice is usually followed in big private firms. Hence the attraction of pension is taken away.
In countries like USA, France, Germany , etc. retirement age has been increased to 67, to mitigate the effects of huge pension funds and increasing life expectancy. Also there is a strong move to reduce the Govt. and privatize. Even though it may increase the cost of any service, it may result in better services due to competition.
The difficulty in Govt. Job is that you may be transferred if you are not in line with your superior or do not accept bribe! Of course, design offices do not get any bribery. Also, if one wants to learn, there will be very little opportunity in Govt. Service.
I request those in Govt. Service to respond to the real situation as the above views are from the experience of my friends.
Best wishes, NS

Government jobs are harder to get to start with, but once you get one, you are likely to be set for life in terms of income and benefits. However there are more politics in government jobs which only adds to the drama of the daily workplace IT Jobs London |

As already mentioned, both Govt. & private jobs have their own pros & cons. Corruption may be there in some sectors, but not in all govt. organisations. I am working with a Central Govt. PSU. Right now we undertake a variety of external projects, in addition to parent department works, in Kerala State. This varies from construction of cattle sheds for veterinary department to radar antenna stations for Dept. of Science and Technology. We execute works with strict quality control measures. This diversified nature of works breaks monotony and gives good degree of job satisfaction. It is natural that most of the people will adapt to their profession over a span of time.

Dear Sir
Having worked in Private and Government Jobs my view is that for Civil Engineers, Government job is the best. Except a very few Civil Engineering Construction companies, most of the construction companies are not managed professionally. Mostly they are controlled by family members who have their own whims and fancies. In such companies one is almost like a slave with out fixed working hours, no assured salary / increments retirement benefits, provident fund, Gratuity etc.
In Government jobs especially in Central Government Jobs you are independent. There are set of delegated powers which you have exercise. You will be very much respected if you are not a corrupt person .
The promotions are assured. You will enjoy yearly benefits of all India, travel, subsidized medical facility, pension, gratuity etc. With contributory pension you have to contribute a small portion of your salary for pension fund but the pension is handsome and very useful in your old age. Even after retirement you can enjoy the subsidized medical facilities.
If you have a choice, go for a Government job, unless you are highly qualified and intent to pursue a research work or a big consultancy.
With regards
K. B |

True. But one drawback with Govt jobs is that your qualification and skills may not generally be reckoned for your career advancement. Only your seniority may matter in this regard !
