Dear Colleagues:
You may kindly see the following announcement from EERI regarding Naeim Prizes for contributions to the World Housing Encyclopedia (WHE).
WHE is an interactive web-based encyclopedia of housing construction in seismically active areas of the world (www.world-housing.net). The web site currently has detailed descriptions of numerous types of housing around the world, including strengths and weaknesses of each type. Farzad Naeim, editor of EERIs prestigious journal Earthquake Spectra, and system developer for the encyclopedia web site, generously created an annual prize for the EERI/IAEE World Housing Encyclopedia (WHE). Three prizes ($1500, $1000, $500) are awarded annually for the best reports on housing construction that are contributed to the web site www.world-housing.net. A subcommittee of the WHE Editorial Board reviews all the reports on the web site and selects reports that are comprehensive, well-presented, and well-illustrated. Report authors do not need to apply separately for the prizeseach submission to the web site will be evaluated for one of the prizes. The selection committee will consider all reports submitted by January 31, 2005. Those wishing further information can contact Editor-in-Chief Svetlana Brzev atsbrzev@bcit.caor James Godfrey at jgodfrey@eeri.org.
