I guess some predictions do come true about earthquakes.
An earthquake of 6.7 intensity did strike at about 2:48 am today with epicenter at border of Afghanistan and Pakistan in the Hindu Kush mountains. Hope it is not a prelude to some big one in the offing.

In current days, we notice that the work pressure is rising drastically. Many of our professionals, do not get enough time to READ new books. Even we do not get time to look into available books; WE JUST REFER THEM, whenever required. The younger generation prefer to read books like ;Harry Potter; or spend time on mobile phones. Who bothers to read the technical books? Even in city like Mumbai, the technical books are found laying on the Roadsides, and are sold at good Bargain. This is definitely not a good scenario.
Currently due to Technological advancement, the Quality of printing / publishing has improved drastically as compared to last few decades. The standard of Engineering Literature has also improved slightly. But the overall STANDARD of Literature has gone down. Many times we notice that it is possible for any unknown person to publish his writing (irrespective of its quality), just because of TECHNOLOGY made it economic. The longitivity has reduced.
We, in HCC, are planning to implement a scheme called ;Book Readers Group;. Here in this activity we are planning to review any Technical / Managerial book at every fortnight. For this we conduct a small informal meeting for Book Lovers of HCC. We try to discuss the gist of any one book, and the aim is to conclude with the Central Thought of the book. We encourage lot of reading in many other innovative ways too.
Can we run a similar activity here, online. Every week one of the ;Sefian; may come forward and share his views on any of the OLD / NEW technical book, briefly. I feel that this will bring us closer and Finally lead to ;Excellence;. (But one rule which we have to keep in mind is while sharing the views - ;NO HARSH REMARKS / LANGUAGE; to be used)
What do you think . . . please respond.
